What is the Abraham A. Low Institute?

The Abraham A. Low Institute develops programs based on the cognitive-behavioral self-help system of Abraham Low, MD (1891-1954). These programs offer training in life skills that enable troubled individuals to minimize the impact of anger and fear on their daily lives.

Who was Abraham Low, MD?

The late neuropsychiatrist Abraham A. Low, MD , developed a unique and lasting system of self-help concepts for use by people afflicted with mental and emotional disorders.

In 1937, Abraham Low founded Recovery, Inc., "an association of nervous and former mental patients." Today, across North America and abroad, people regain and maintain their mental health through hundreds of weekly Recovery, Inc., meetings that offer Low's self-help system.

As an adjunct to professional care, Low's system has helped hundreds of thousands of people to return to productive lives. His concepts, now recognized by many as far ahead of their time, anticipated currently accepted modes of treatment.
