This project, sponsored by the Abraham A. Low Institute, applies the work of the late neuropsychiatrist, Abraham A. Low, M.D., to the needs of families and friends of people suffering from emotional and mental disorders.

Based on the time-tested system of Recovery, Inc., established by Abraham Low in 1937, The Relatives Project is an ongoing experiment. These web pages will be reviewed and revised as the project progresses.

What will I learn from The Relatives Project?

You will learn:

  • to manage your own stress
  • to create a domestic environment conducive to good mental health
  • to better understand the forces at work in that environment

How can I learn this?

At present, the concepts and techniques of The Relatives Project are offered at group meetings in Cleveland, OH; Livonia, MI; and East Lansing, MI.

On this website, examples show you, in part, how The Relatives Project system works. We welcome your comments.

What have participants learned?

The following are stories from relatives and friends of people with mental and emotional problems. These relatives and friends describe the change in their lives, and in the lives of those they love, after attending The Relatives Project meetings.
